01 – Temple DIY Guide

01 – Temple is a lamp with a living fire inside. It starts with a single spark, builds to a full blaze, and never repeats itself: the animation runs on randomness written into the code. The shape might feel familiar. Picture a meadow in rural Sweden, a festival held once every ninety years, and a yellow wooden temple with one final purpose. This guide teaches you to build that temple for your own shelf. This time, you decide what burns.

This is more than an assembly guide. It walks you through building this exact lamp while teaching the skills behind illuminated art: working with LEDs, writing code, 3D printing, wiring, and soldering. What you learn here carries into whatever you make next.

LED Wiring & Soldering – You will learn to solder clean joints and see how the whole circuit connects: strip to strip, strip to microcontroller, and power to the project. Understand the wiring here and you can wire almost anything.

LED Programming & Microcontrollers – You will use FastLED to shape color and motion, then flash the code onto your microcontroller. By the end you understand how a few lines of code turn into a moving flame. Not interested in writing your own? My code is provided.

3D Printing – You will work through the parts of 3D printing that actually matter: choosing materials, dialing in your slicer, and getting your print settings right. The models are single color and need just one support, which comes pre-placed in the files, so they suit any skill level. No printer, or no interest in learning it? While building your own Temple lamp you will learn:

No experience required. No ceremony, either. Every step is written for a first-timer, and you can build the whole thing without setting anything on fire.
