01 – Temple DIY Guide

01 – Temple is a lamp with a living fire inside. It starts with a single spark, builds to a full blaze, and never repeats itself: the animation runs on randomness written into the code. The shape might feel familiar. Picture a meadow in rural Sweden, a festival held once every ninety years, and a yellow wooden temple with one final purpose. This guide teaches you to build that temple for your own shelf. This time, you decide what burns.

01 – Temple was designed as a beginner project to learn several useful skills.

LED Wiring & Soldering – Both the DIY Guide and Kit will teach you how to solder, wire LED strips together, wire to a microcontroller, and wire power to your project.

LED Programming & Microcontrollers – You will learn how to use FastLED to control LEDs, as well as how to flash a microcontroller with code. For those not interested in writing their own code, my code is provided.

3D Printing – Several 3D printing topics will be covered, from materials to slicers and print settings. Models for this project are all single color and don’t require supports, so they are great for any skill level. For those without access to a 3D printer or not interested in learning 3D printing, the 01 – Temple DIY Kit includes the fabricated pieces ready to go.

While building your own Temple lamp you will learn:

• 3D printing
• Cutting and tinning wire and LED strips
• Wiring LED strips
• Working with microcontrollers
• Programming LEDs
• Basic fabrication

No experience required. No ceremony, either. Every step is written for a first-timer, and you can build the whole thing without setting anything on fire.

• A 3D printer, ideally with build volume of 206mm+
• 4 colors of PETG filament: Yellow, Green, Blue, and White
